About Shama Bell
Stories have always fascinated me.
Not simply the ones found in books, but the ones carried quietly by everyday people.
For more than thirty years, I have spent my days behind the barber's chair listening to conversations, observing human behavior, and witnessing the small moments that often reveal the most about who we are. As the owner of The Southern Gent, a luxury appointment-only barbershop in Texas, I have had the privilege of meeting people from every walk of life, each carrying experiences, questions, triumphs, and burdens of their own.
Those observations eventually found their way into my writing.
I am drawn to stories that explore curiosity, consequence, memory, resilience, and the complexities that exist beneath the surface of ordinary lives. Rather than offering easy answers, I often find myself more interested in the questions that linger after the final page.
My debut novel, The Meadow Gentleman, is a psychological suspense novel that examines the unsettling space between intelligence, obsession, and consequence. It is a story built as much on observation as action, inviting readers to consider what happens when curiosity is pursued beyond reasonable limits.
Beyond fiction, I am also an artist and the creator of Tangled ArtZ, where I produce mixed-media artwork, narrative-driven pieces, and functional sculptures. Whether working with words, wood, paint, or conversation, my work is guided by the same principle:
Pay attention.

I do not write to provide answers.
I write because questions matter.
Some stories begin with an idea. Others begin with an image, a conversation, a contradiction, or a feeling that refuses to leave. Over time those fragments gather around one another until they become something larger than themselves.
Writing allows me to explore uncertainty.
It allows me to examine human behavior without reducing people to simple heroes or villains. The older I become, the less interested I am in certainty and the more interested I become in complexity.
Stories are not arguments.
They are invitations.
An invitation to observe.
An invitation to wonder.
An invitation to sit beside another perspective long enough to discover something unexpected.
If my work accomplishes anything, I hope it encourages readers to pay closer attention—to people, to ideas, and to the questions that remain long after the final page has been turned.
